The migratory experience is deepened in González's work under his reflections on identity and psychogeographic space. In this context he uses the figuration and abstraction of the human body as well as the landscape to create drawing and video series.
Arnaldo González's drawings and paintings are made mainly with pencil, ballpoint pen and marker, sometimes mixed with acrylic paint and candle wax on paper and canvas.
Drawings as maps of one's own history - the Venezuelan-born artist Arnaldo González always searches for himself in his works on paper. Who am I, where do I go, how can I maintain communication with my family across national borders? The delicate, sometimes intensely colored drawings impress with their aesthetics and at the same time open up multiple levels of meaning that invite the viewer to enter into dialogue.
